Atelier 80 is the design practice of Adrian Dentzel.
After receiving degrees in Music and Literature from UCSB in 2002, Adrian returned to the tradition of craft, sculpture, and design that he learned from his grandfather, a sixth generation wooden carousel carver.
In 2008, he was offered an immersive apprenticeship at UFACTO, a design fabrication workshop in Paris, France and upon completion he was offered a job. For the next two years, Adrian would work closely with David Toppani creating prototypes and limited edition pieces for designers such as Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Jasper Morrison, Hella Jongerius, Robert Stadler, the Campana brothers, Pierre Charpin, Francois Roche and Faye Toogood. Adrian’s own designs would be featured at the Saatchi Galiery in the 2010 London Design Festival show, Projectory, curated by Brent Dzeckorius.
After designing and handcrafting furnishings for the cocktail bar, Candelaria, Adrian quickly developed a client base comprising a number of Paris’ best bars and bistros. In addition to crafting pieces for Vivant, Bones, and Le 6 Paul Bert, he also created unique pieces, decor, and designed sets for the fashion companies Hermés, Kenzo, and Roger Vivier, among others.
Currently, Adrian resides in California and continues to work locally and internationally with custom fabrication available in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris.
